How Would You Solve This?

Quite nice color echo from purple furniture to loropetalum.

What would you do, below, with this 'pedestrian' landscape?  Very tight budget, of course.

Shutters as the budget allows.  More importantly, pruning the shrubs into espalier next to the house.  I'm thinking 10' tall at most.  Lush.

Adore solutions costing 'zero'.

Her solution to the improperly scaled window boxes is brilliant.  Remove the wood boxes, place a stone shelf on the iron brackets and place several terra cotta pots.

hmmmm....mondo grass edging, fine pebbles and a row of 'little gem' magnolia grandiflora.
does the purple really need to stay???
cream chairs to reflect cream magnolia flowers.
native violets trailing from revamped window boxes

Love the stone shelf idea, that will look perfect under those windows.

Black shutters. relocate all plantings and replace with boxwood, line edge with brick or steel on both sides of gravel walk. Chairs look small scaled, if they are remove them, if not paint them black.

I love the stone shelf idea also and I think the shutters will add a lot to the picture.
I do love those shrubs-I have to google them to see if they could possibly grow in our zone 5b garden!

Take care,
Carolyn

I'm wondering what those chairs are facing. Is it a view? Or are they just stage props, which rubs me the wrong way. I'd like to see the seats having a conversation, like at a 45-degree angle to each other.

As much as I love purple in the landscape, these chairs are grabbing an awful lot of attention away from the shubbery. How about leaving that unique side table purple and making the chairs go black?

But you're the expert, Tara.

Paint those chairs a soft grey-green!
Loose the window boxes and espallier the shurbs.
Simplicity.
